I want to congratulate Mary Sheerin, the winner of the Charles Owen helmet, during the silent auction at the Iron Horse CDE. Proceeds from the silent auction were donated to Habitat for Humanity and also helped promote SUCCEED's Riders4Helmet Awareness Campaign and our spin on the helmet topic "Drivers4Helmets". 

My team and I are on the road traveling at this time. We participated in a mandatory USEF hosted outing for the four-in-hand driving competitors at Cedar Lane Farm in Oldwick, New Jersey. James Fairclough, Tucker Johnson, Josh Rector, David Sanders and I trained with our coaches Peter Tischer and Michael Freund, while in New Jersey.

Every detail of our training and performance is under close scrutiny. We are confident the team is on course to peak at the Games. All aspects of training up to this point have been very exciting and we are also mentally focused to put forth our best. 

So as they say...let the games begin!!

The road to WEG is extremely exciting. June was like a fast paced marathon course competing in the Garden State Driving Event in Allentown, New Jersey and at the Bromont International Driving Event in Quebec, Canada. Both competitions I had the opportunity to work with my less experienced horses and play with their strengths and weaknesses.

The marathon course at Bromont proved to be quite challenging but my team stepped up to the plate and successfully navigated the course.  My young horse Reno really stood out and maintained a very consistent work ethic despite the difficult terrain. My team is really coming together and I am so proud of them all. 

Coming up this week will be the Iron Horse CDE in Illinois, July 30^th to August 1^st. This will be my last competition before heading home to continue preparing my team for WEG. I will not only compete at Iron Horse but will be participating in some really exciting events. I was a guest on the local BNNS Radio Show, helping to promote the Iron Horse competition to the surrounding communities. Also I will be teaming up with my sponsors Charles Owen and SUCCEED in a helmet donation to the Habitat for Humanities silent auction. Our goal is to help raise awareness of "Riders4Helmets" through "Drivers 4 Helmets". One lucky silent auction winner will receive a Charles Owen helmet certificate.

I look forward to competing at The World Equestrian Games this year and don't forget to look for me at my sponsor's booths at WEG.

What a great year this is turning out to be. My team and I are in full swing preparing for this summer's events.  We have made the decision to train and compete in North America this year and prepare for WEG. It was a difficult decision, we love competing in Europe but I feel that training and competing here is a smart decision. I have had the chance to compete under several European judges throughout the season and we feel confident that this is the best for the team. 

This summer my team is planning to compete at Garden State (CAI Allentown), CAI Bromont, and Iron Horse CDE in Illinois. These competitions should be a great opportunity to help us reach our goals and keep the horses at their peak.

While I am busy schooling the horses at home I recently attended school and spoke to the Exercise Physiology class of the Equine Studies Department at Central Florida Community College. I summarized to the students my training and conditioning program for my horses, and explained in detail my feeding program, cardiovascular conditioning and how I keep my horses sound through post-exercise therapy and regular veterinary evaluation. It was a great experience to help influence the future of the horse industry.

In other exciting news, my team will be featured in a new Cosequin ad that will be in magazines soon. All of my horses have been on Cosequin since 1996 and I cannot be happier with the results.
